First and foremost, this place's niche is that it's open very late. But quality is more important than timing.
I was torn between three and four stars. 3 stars because of the general overpriced trendy nature of the whole thing and 4 stars because it's a nice silly treat kind of place.
Then I remembered that the way they're set up, it's way too easy to mistake their higher-priced items for the lower price offerings. Several times, I overheard people in front of my group in the line make that mistake and I remember thinking 'oh haha, they didn't read...' and made a point to scour the pricing in the menus while waiting. When it came to my turn, I picked my flavors from a small display of cookies and asked if the brownie was one of the options for a combo package. I then was informed that the pricing distinction was between the first and second rows, which were not labeled that way as far as anyone in my group noticed. If that many people are making the same mistake about the two rows, even when trying to pay attention, seems to me they could clarify things. If I had not asked about the brownie, I would have ordered the more expensive items and gotten angry at the unexpected higher price. I ended up getting the fancier cookies and a brownie, just less of them.
As I said it was a nice treat, but they weren't getting 5 stars because even their lower-priced options were expensive and the 3 different cookies and 1 brownie that I tried all tasted like (and had the texture of) commercial pre-made frozen nonsense.
Everything was warm (yum!) and served in a little pizza box kind of package that protected them well while walking around in a heavy rain.
I guess it's a nice trendy place for locals if they're rich (it is in the middle of Yale University after all), or for whoever to try if you're passing through. Regardless, they must be doing something right because the line was out the door at 11 at night. I hope for their sake it's more than just a passing fad. If they fixed the taste and texture I wouldn't care about the price as much. I don't want commercial tasting stuff even if it's cheap.
